Prior to adopting, we make sure that children will be residing in a safe, secure, and loving environment.

Family To Family is licensed by the State of Texas to place children for adoption and to perform home study interviews and evaluations as per the Texas Minimum Adoption Standards. There are several types of adoptions that require specific types of home study and post-placement, including the following:

  1. Domestic Adoption: This requires the adoptive parent to have a home study evaluation and report prior to placement with a child age 0 to 16. Five post-placement supervision visits must be completed prior to the finalization of the adoption.
  2. Step-Parent Adoption: This is required when the biological parent of a child wishes to extend parental rights to a stepfather or stepmother. Generally, there are no post-placement supervision visits required in this type of adoption. This home study is usually completed because of a pending adoption decree.
  3. International Adoption: Most children adopted internationally are residents of countries that have ratified the Hague Convention. This requires the placing agency to be accredited by the Hague Convention. At this time, Family To Family Adoptions has chosen not to become a Hague Accredited agency.

THE HOME STUDY PROCESS

  1. Call us at 281-342-4042 to request the home study information and ask questions about the home study process.
  2. Download the application, fill it out & submit it to our agency.
  3. Download the autobiographical instrument and the other documents needed for the home study from the website.
  4. Call our office to ask any questions about the home study paperwork and to schedule a time for your home visit.
  5. One of our social workers will arrive at your home at the specified time and take you through a 3-4-hour interview.
  6. Approximately two weeks later, the home study report will be complete and available for pickup or mailing.
