The title to this blog is an article that was released in this weeks paper of the Houston Chronicle. You can find it in the Fort Bend section. Our agency recently had our license amended to include foster care and foster to adopt. Our contract is pending and we are excited about starting up these new programs and offering this service in our local area. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a foster parent, please contact us. We are looking forward to providing safe and loving homes for children and making a difference in their lives even if it is just for a short time.
It’s that time of year! I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is done and Christmas is upon us. Everyone is busy decorating, shopping and making plans for the holidays. The staff at Family to Family are doing the same but we are also looking forward to the birth of many babies this month as well as getting ready to start our foster care program next year. This is also our favorite time of year because we start receiving holiday cards from our adoptive families that we can put up around the office. This month promises to be a busy one.
We have many birth families this year and most of them with children and our agency strives to provide Christmas for each of them. If you are interested in donating or would like to sponsor a family please contact us. Also if you are an adoptive family this is a great time of year to remember your birth family. Many of our families send gifts to their birth families so we ask that you get those to us in the next couple of weeks so we can ensure that the birth families receive these by Christmas. If you have not finalized your adoption and you have plans to travel for the holidays please be sure and let us know. We hope that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
Our 2013 Family to Family Calendars are ready! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we love putting them together. This year’s cover family has two adopted children through Family to Family, one child they have adopted through foster care and one biological child. Aren’t they precious! This is just a preview of the many adorable faces throughout this year’s calendar.
Families tend to buy these as holiday gifts and to display in their homes and places of employment. Each sale of a calendar benefits the agency and our educational fund for women who have placed a child for adoption. If you would like to purchase a calendar, please contact our office. They are $15 each but the more you order the more of a discount you can receive. Please call our office for more pricing information or if you are interested in donating to the agency or helping us with a fundraiser. Thank you for your support of Family to Family!
Tell us about it. We are constantly working to improve our site and provide you, our readers, with useful and interesting information about adoption, abortion alternatives, parenting (particularly in adoptive families), and the adoption process. We would like to hear from you about how we are doing.
Go to our Contact Us form on the site and send us a message telling us what you like about what we are doing, what you find particularly useful, how easy it is to find what you need on the site, or what information you would like to have available, but cannot find.
Open adoptions have become the norm today according to a report cited in the Houston Chronicle on March 21. According to this report, “only about 5 percent of infant adoptions in the U.S. now take place without some ongoing relationship between birth parent and adoptive family”.
While open adoptions are more popular, and provide many benefits to the families involved and to the adopted children, there are many problems encountered with the process due to mis-matched expectations as to the degree of post adoption contact. If you are interested in learning more about an open adoption, be sure to read our description of the open adoption process to prepare yourself for what you might encounter.
We have just affiliated with a service that allows users to earn money while looking at ads. This service also allows our friends to donate the money they earn directly to us at Family to Family to support our programs and services.
The concept is simple! Advertisers will pay to get information about you so that they can direct their ads to people who are more likely to be interested in them. With this feature, you tell them about yourself and what you are interested in, so that advertisers who are interested in people like you can send you their ads. The big difference here is that instead of paying people who have collected information about you, the advertisers will pay you!
Another nice element of this feature is that you have the option of donating some or all of the money they will pay you to Family to Family to support our programs and services.
The process is easy, just click on the button in the box above to “Sign Up”. When you get there, create a user name and password. Then you will be taken to a screen where you can enter information about yourself. Then you can begin getting ads targeted to you, and begin collecting money from the advertisers!

On this Valentine’s Day, Family to Family celebrates our 10 year anniversary. We were founded on February 14, 2001 as an international agency and did our first domestic placement in August 2001. We invite you to visit our history and statistics page and see how it all started and our successes. We have met and had the privilege of working with so many loving and supportive birthmothers and adoptive families this past 10 years. We could not have made it without you and we thank you for all of your support. Our staff is excited and anxious to see what happens next. Happy Anniversary Family to Family!!
Family to Family intends to close our office today, February 3rd, at 1 PM due to the impending weather. There is a possibility that the office will be closed tomorrow, February 4th, as well. The office will be closed starting at noon on Thursday, December 23rd and will be closed all day on Friday, December 24th. The office will also be closed on Friday, December 31st so that the staff can celebrate the holidays with their families. Thank you and Happy Holidays from all of our staff!
Today is National Adoption Day!! Congratulations to all of the adoptive families that finalized their adoptions today. The courthouses will be packed with very happy families and what better day to officially become a forever family than on National Adoption Day. The staff at Family to Family are celebrating the many placements we have done over the years and want to thank all of our adoptive families, birth families, attorneys, social workers, and everyone else that help make adoption possible.
