Birth Mother Mental Health Counseling
Family to Family Adoptions Inc. offers a variety of services and support for mother who are considering placing their child for adoption. Family to Family offers, one on one counseling for you and the birth father if he is with you; a safe and independent housing situation in our facility if you prefer, or approved living expenses where you are living now. These living expenses include rent, utilities, food, personal hygiene items, household supplies, maternity clothing, telephone service, transportation to services, medical care, legal counsel and adoption counseling.
Birth parents always have a lot of questions about the process, and we have a document for you that addresses many of these questions. You may download it from “Birth Parents Questions.”
These expenses are authorized by the State of Texas (other states may vary in what support they authorize) to make sure that you and your baby are healthy when it is born. It is important to get good pre-natal care, take your pre-natal vitamins if prescribed, to eat nutritious food including milk, cheese and other proteins and get plenty of rest so you are not stressed out. It is important to take care of your mental health during a stressful time like this. At Family to Family we understand and help you with all of these issues. As part of our birth mother resources, we offer an on-line forum where you can communicate with others in our community who have shared some of your experience.
